Blog Hop - Sketch Challenge

Thank you for playing along with the blog hop. If you did not arrive to my blog from Veronica please return to Amanda's blog http://www.lovejoypaper.com/ .

Amanda created an amazing sketch. Well, for those of you that don't know ..... I am strictly a digi scrapbooker. I find traditional scrapbooking very intimidating. This has always surprised me because I love to make cards. I think it is the large 12x12 blank canvas.

When I first began the digi process last year I never used templates. Recently, I have fallen in love with them. There are so many great template resources out there. But, I used to feel I was missing out on all the great traditional sketches offered for traditional scrapbooking. Then the light bulb came off. Why not turn those into digi templates?

So, now when I find a sketch I love I take a few minutes to create a digi template I can use over and over again. I created a template from Amanda's amazing sketch. If you are a digi gal and would like the template please let me know.

Thank you for playing along. Please leave a comment. I'll draw a winner on Monday. Your next stop will be Jackie http://www.scrapbangwallop.blogspot.com/.

The winner is MeganD. The prize is a smash dual tip pen. If you have not seen them you can learn about the pen here http://eksuccessbrands.com/kandcompany/smash/. Please send me your addy.

Valentine Cookies

I hope my children never grow old of me baking for them. I still find great joy in making them holiday sugar cookies. They are now 24 & 27. The sprinkle sugar cookie recipe I discovered last year when I was browsing allrecipes.com. Boy, I love that site!

The frosted decorated sugar cookies I came across many, many years ago...in a betty crocker cookbook that I had checked out from the library. I think DD, my oldest, was 6 or 7 at the time. I have been making them ever since. I LOVE checking out cookbooks from the library.

The little chocolate cookies are super easy and delicious. I make them when I have left over frosting. They are my version of the oreo caksters. YUMMY!

Here is the recipe:

1 Chocolate Cake Mix (I like fudge. If you have an Aldi's there chocolate box cake mix makes the best.)
2 eggs
1/4 -1/3 cup vegetables oil (I have made them with 1/4 cup oil when I ran low on oil.)
2 T water
handful of chocolate chips (optional)
Bake at 350 for 5 to 8 minutes until bottom is golden. Recipe yields 24 cookies or 12 large cakesters. Easy and economical. Got to love that!
Happy Weekend everyone!

Valentine's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Valentine's blog hop. I am having so many technical difficulties with posting. I could not get my pictures to post. So, I am going to describe my project for now and hopefully I can get the pictures uploaded later.

My Valentine project consisted of making little sour cream containers and filling them with a yummy goody. The containers were made with valentine paper. Each container had a tag stamped with a little puppy and a heart sentiment saying "puppy love". I filled the containers with puppy chow.

If you have never made sour cream containers you need to give them a try. They are so quick and easy. I found the directions here http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com/dawns_stampin_studio/2008/08/sour-cream-container.html

I ended up making the containers a bit larger so I could give a little more puppy chow. Just in case you don't have the puppy chow recipe here it is http://www.chex.com/recipes/RecipeView.aspx?RecipeId=45860&CategoryId=447

On to your next your next stop is http://snipssnailsandtails.blogspot.com/ If you get lost try to make your way back to Amanda's blog.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy Crafting

Quest for the perfect blueberry muffins

I love blueberry muffins. I have tried several recipes over the years but have never found one I love. So, I have decided to continue the quest and post all the recipes until I find that perfect blueberry muffin. If you have a great recipe I should try post the link in the comments.

This weekend I made the blueberry muffin recipe which can be found in the book Baking with Julia. You can find the book here http://www.amazon.com/Baking-Julia-Savor-Americas-Bakers/dp/0688146570.

I found the recipe on another blog also....... So, instead on retyping it, I just thought I would share her blog link. She has a good picture of the muffins too. http://www.seasaltwithfood.com/2009/01/blueberry-muffins.html

My review: The muffins are good. The texture is more like a corn muffin with blueberries. I probably won't make them again.

So, the quest continues.
